Milestones

In August, Black Cloud Stable reached the $1 million mark in career earnings (we like to call it the first million).  This came from truly humble beginnings by industry comparison and momentum continues to build . . .

The Big Horse Reigns

Whereshetoldmetogo made his power move over the past couple of months, winning the Concern Stakes in early July followed by winning the Star De Naskra Stakes in August (you can watch both on our Video Board).  In the latter race he scored a Ragozin Sheets speed figure of 4 (that’s quite good), which garnered the attention of buyers in the private market.

We have just reached agreement to sell a majority interest in him.  Black Cloud will retain a 25% stake.  He will remain with trainer Anthony Pecoraro for his next race, which targets a graded stakes in September, before moving to a new training facility.

The Two Year Olds

All five two year olds are active and running, led by the Congrats colt Crypto Currency, as expected.  He broke his maiden in late July, though followed that with a 5th place finish against heightened competition in the Sapling Stakes on September 1st.  He’s a bit green and will benefit from maturation over the next few months.

Vampa debuted in August at Delaware Park (4th place finish), while Beacos Disco Pants and Summer Vow each garnered a 2nd place in one of their summer starts.  Pressdamusicbutton has some work to do, but should be starting again soon seeking to turn the corner.

Rain wreaked havoc

You may have noticed it has rained a lot this summer.  That’s great and all for having lush green grass, but not so much if you have a horse that needs to run on it and tracks move turf races off to the dirt.  That was the summer plight of Threeohtwocassie.  As reported in our last newsletter he won an allowance race in mid-June, but then due to numerous factors (mostly the aforementioned rain) he didn’t run again until late August.  He looked good, gaining fitness in a 4th place finish, and is pointed to a stakes race at Parx in September.

Looking forward

While we have a reduced holding you will still be hearing about Whereshetoldmetogo as he escalates his career.  He will bear the familiar Black Cloud silks every fourth race.

Optimism is high for Crypto Currency as he moves ahead into the fall.  Vampa, Beacos, Summer Vow and Pressdamusicbutton will find their optimal slots and should be able to become profitable members of the team.

We also have raised capital to attend the yearling sales and should be bringing new horses into the fold over the next few months.  Contact us today to join the fun.
